ADHD Counseling
If you feel overwhelmed, burnt out, or just plain exhausted, just know that I hear you. I know what it’s like to work twice as hard as everyone else just to keep up and still feel like you’re falling behind. It can look like being unable to start simple daily tasks, getting stuck in cycles of procrastination and panic, and carrying that quiet shame of wondering, “Why can’t I just do what needs to be done?”
Maybe you’ve felt like you’re too intense, too scattered, too sensitive, or too disorganized. Perhaps you’ve spent years doing the opposite: shrinking, masking, and tightly controlling yourself so no one notices how hard things feel inside.
ADHD (attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder) affects how the brain works. ADHD doesn’t mean you lack attention, it means it’s harder to control where your attention goes and how to direct it consistently to the tasks the world expects you to prioritize. ADHD can show up as difficulty focusing, restlessness, and impulsive behaviors. It can also come with something genuinely powerful: the ability to “get in the zone” and hyperfocus on what you’re truly interested in.
What becomes difficult is when your interests don’t line up with what you have to do. And when you’re constantly second-guessing yourself, and bracing for judgment, it’s easy to start losing hope. But there is hope.
If you’ve been asking yourself things like:
Why do I struggle to focus on a task and complete it from start to finish?
Why do simple decisions and routine tasks feel crushing?
Why do noise, emotion, or stimulation make me irritated, anxious, or shut down?
Why do I strugle to connect in relationships?
Why do I struggle to feel comfortable with stillness?
Please know: you’re not alone and nothing is wrong with you. You’re not lazy. You’re not broken. You’re someone who needs the right skills, tools, and support to move forward in a way that fits your brain, and learn to understand yourself with compassion.
